Chipman Glasser Obtains Near-Complete Defense Verdict In Commercial Dispute

Attorney John M. Bowlin obtained a court ruling in favor of a Chipman Glasser client after a bench trial. The plaintiff in the case had sought damages exceeding $1 million on theories of fraud, civil theft, and breach of contract in a dispute arising over angel investments and other alleged contractual arrangements. After a two-day trial, the Denver District Court awarded plaintiff only about $30,000—roughly 3 percent of the damages sought.

“We are very pleased that the Court concluded that our client had no liability for the bulk of the claims in this case,” said Mr. Bowlin. “The evidence showed that our client made no misrepresentations and was not otherwise liable for hundreds of thousands of dollars that the plaintiff was requesting.”
